LILY + JUNIPER BLOOMS

"The ultimate dream in life is to be able to do what you love and learn something from it"

-Jennifer Love Hewitt

FARMER-FLORIST

What exactly is a "Farmer-Florist" you might ask? Well let me tell you, not only am I a florist, but I am a farmer. I specialize in growing cut flowers for arranging! While designing I love to use my own flowers, as well as blooms from other local farms. I believe in, and follow the slow flowers movement. I think supporting local is key, and strive to source local blooms as often as possible.

FAMILY RUN, LOCAL, PASSIONATE

Hi there! I am the owner, floral designer and farmer at Lily + Juniper Blooms. I am a mother to 2 daughters, Lily and Juniper. They are my inspiration and “get” to spend a lot of their time with me out in the flower fields. They help me by picking weeds and soaking the plants and often me, with the hose. I love all things flowers, I can't seem to get enough honestly. I am a 29 year old, Utah Native. I fell in love with flowers as I fell in love with my husband. We began gardening when we first met, using any space available to us. We continued to do so throughout our first years of marriage. We had plants in every corner of our apartments and had our tiny apartment balcony's stuffed to the brim with flower pots. We did this until we bought our 1896 cottage in downtown Ogden, in 2015! When we first walked through the house it was a nightmare and it was a definite no on buying it. That was until we walked into the backyard. 3/4 of an acre in downtown Ogden? Mature fruit trees and a whole lot of potential. Suddenly the inside didn't seem so bad and we bought it! We began renovations the same day I found out I was pregnant with Lily. That was quite the experience. After "completing" the house we slowly turned our attention to the yard. After having our second daughter, Juniper, my husband Cody, Assistant Professor of Agriculture at USU Extension attended a conference at Utah State where he learned about flower farming. We decided to make use of our land and passion for flowers by growing cut flowers. After beginning our first season I began arranging flowers, attending as many courses and workshops as I could to be the best florist possible. I couldn't tell you if I love floral design or flower farming more. Our first season has been a complete learning curve, with me getting sick with Epstein Barr, and learning the ins and outs of cut flower growing, we have not only learned invaluable lessons but have gained a deeper passion and appreciation for flowers and what it takes to be a professional farmer-florist. When I am not in the fields or designing, I enjoy spending time with my daughters and my husband. I'm happiest near water, kayaking, paddle boarding, river rafting, tubing, and playing at the beach. I also love writing, watching upbeat movies, eating (especially tacos) and if I am up for it, gardening.
